History of Bhavans
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was founded in 1938 at Mumbai by the great visionary, statesman, philosopher and philanthropist Sri K. M . Munshi with the blessings of the father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi. True to its goal of revitalising Dharma or the moral law in its three fold form of truth, love and beauty, the Bhavan is ceaselessly striving to carry forward India's ageless message of faith, self-discipline and dedication.
With the passage of time, the seed sown by Sri Munshiji has come to be recognised as a symbol of the Intellectual, Literary, Educational, Ethical, Spiritual and Cultural Life of India and recognised as a national Institution with an International outlook touching almost all segments of Life. The main purpose of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is to provide a bridge to span the past, the present and the future, projected on the strong foundations of the fundamental values of life. In furtherance of its
aim and objective of carrying India's message beyond its boundaries, the Bhavan has set up centres in London, New York, Sydney, Lisbon, Mexico, Torando, Durban, Singapore and Dubai. Within the country, Bhavan has 118 Kendras with more than 300 institutions and about 2 lakh students. Bhavan runs a number of famous Management Colleges like S. P. Jain Institute of Management in Mumbai, M. P. Birla Institute of Management in Bangalore, Bhavan's Institute of Management at Kolkata, Delhi, Mysore, Kochi and various other place.
Bhavan published about 2000 titles in various languages and its Journal is a popular magazine. For Bhavan's untiring efforts of spreading peace, harmony and value based education, Govt. of India has recognised it as an EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION OF NATIONAL EMINENCE AND ALSO AWARDED THE "GANDHI PEACE AWARD" in the year 2002.
